Beautiful WWI or WWII U.S. 3rd Army Patch ~ Bullion on Felt LARGE 6" Diameter

I'm starting this listing by admitting I'm not a patch expert, but believe this patch to be from WWI, but am not 100% sure. If anyone knows for sure, and what its intended usage of this large patch was, please help us out and shoot me an email. The quality of this patch is very fine, and it's larger than others we've encountered from the area; it measures 6" in diameter as shown in the second photo. The "A" is made of quality bullion, and the base of the patch is felt. I used a black light, and nothing on it is even close to glowing. There appears to be some bleeding. I'm not sure if this is something that could be corrected - again, I'll leave that to the patch experts.
