Description
I am selling a fantastic Victorian coiled snake ring from my personal collection. I purchased this ring from an upscale fine estate jeweler in St. Helena, CA (receipt available upon request). The shop obtained this ring from a reputable London based reseller. This ring could date anywhere from 1860 to 1880's. The simple coiled design seems a bit harder to find as most snake rings from the later Victorian era have the snake head resting on top of the coils. I love this more primitive design.
The ring itself is 15kt gold which is typical for English rings and weighs in at about 5.1 grams. It is a substantial piece! The head of the snake is a cabochon garnet and the eyes are diamonds measuring .02 cttw.
This ring is a size 4 which is a super hard size to find in an antique snake ring. Normally they are large. If you are the smaller size like myself, this is your chance! I am trying to downsize my collection to allow for new pieces to come in, but this is hard one to let go as I know I likely won't find another in this size. While it is possible this has been previously sized down (due to absence of hallmarks), I don't recommend sizing on this.
Please also note that at its widest the band is 0.25". Please contact me if additional measurements are needed.
Please check out my other auctions as I am listing a few more antique jewelry pieces.
